We're hiring a System Engineer on behalf of an innovative ENGINE PROPULSION SATELLITE company of 60 employees in the space technology sector. The organization is known for its cutting-edge propulsion systems for small satellites and has a proven track record of delivering high-performance, in-orbit-validated hardware to clients across Europe, the US, and Asia. With hundreds of propulsion systems ordered to date, the company plays a key role in redefining satellite mobility and space sustainability.
Your Role
As a System Engineer you will actively design, build and test new concepts of plasma propulsion systems, closely collaborating with several physicists and engineers in the Innovation team. You will be involved in making proof-of-concept systems of the new company products, validating them and preparing the documentation, as well as creating the company IP elements. You will work on the projects covering variety of engineering and scientific disciplines, ranging from chemistry and elementary physics, to electronics and thermal design.
You are expected to have a good understanding of electronics, covering basic breadboard design and prototyping/debugging. We therefore expect you to have an experience in either industrial system design or DIY projects with electronic components. Basic embedded programming skills (Arduino or generic uC) would be a big plus. You will directly work on the prototypes you create, and we expect that you have excellent manual skills and pride in what you do.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Conceptual design of the propulsion systems and their elements
Basic simulation using existing tools: electronic circuits, thermal
Breadboard design of electronics (power & signal) for the propulsion systems
Assembly and experimental testing of the propulsion systems using vacuum setups, performance characterization and enhancement
Multidisciplinary testing of various system elements
Coordination of projects within the Innovation team
Document writing and reporting
Required skills and qualifications:
PhD or Master in applied physics, aerospace system engineering or general engineering
Solid understanding of electronics, ability to create test boards and simple control systems
RF and power electronics experience is a plus
