Primary Class Teachers are responsible for delivering the highest possible standards of education - socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually, and ensuring that each child in their class makes the maximum possible progress based on their potential and within the ethos and policies of the School.
Role
* A teaching qualification (ie UK’S PGCE, Bachelor of Education, QTS) recognized in Canada, UK or USA
* Minimum 2 years class teaching experience
* Familiarity with the Ontario Elementary curriculum, the National curriculum of England, or IB’s PYP framework
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educate the whole child
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not a first language
* Capable of correct professional etiquette and courtesy with students, staff, and parents
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Flexibility and proactivity to participate constructively in school activities
* Acceptance to undergo criminal checks and child protection screening
* Appropriate references from current and previous employer, corroborated by personal phone calls made to each referee
* To be accountable for securing the highest standards of student achievement across the English curriculum through effective monitoring and evaluation.
* To use data analysis effectively to inform policies, teaching and learning, and whole school improvement.
* To interrogate termly data, identify areas of poor performance, and take effective action to remedy and eradicate underachievement.
* To write an English action plan as part of the School Development Plan and evaluate its effectiveness annually
* To collaborate with and support teachers in ensuring progression and continuity across Grades
* To advise and inform staff about assessment, recording, and reporting procedures within the school, along with new information, resources, and guidance
* To assist the Principal and Head of Primary in monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and learning in English through observations, team teaching, and work scrutiny
* To lead staff development sessions for teaching and support staff as agreed with the Headteacher
* To attend courses and meetings as appropriate and report back to staff on key issues
* To audit, order, organize, and allocate resources throughout the school, both in classrooms and resource areas
* To take an active role in organizing special curriculum events as agreed with the Principal and Head of Primary
* To provide information for the Governing Body at School Improvement Meetings
* To maintain a well-organized and up-to-date Subject Leader File
Duties and Responsibilities
* Work within the framework of CSM’s aims, principles, curriculum, policies, and guidelines, ensuring their effective implementation
* Work in liaison and cooperation with staff, parents, management, and the local community
* Attend all scheduled assemblies, staff meetings, Parent/Teacher meetings, and planning days
* Supervise teaching assistants and supply teachers
* Undertake other duties reasonably required from time to time
* Be responsible for teaching materials and classroom equipment, and participate in their review and allocation
* Ensure classroom and hallway displays are well presented and maintained
* Maintain accurate data records in school systems
* Interact professionally with colleagues and the community to promote mutual understanding and improve teaching quality
* Build and maintain cooperative relationships with parents, communicating about children’s learning, progress, and needs
* Support new staff and supply teachers with school policies and assist in implementation
* Participate in in-service workshops and activities
* Prepare and present reports to parents based on monitoring procedures
* Facilitate parental engagement by clearly presenting home tasks and guidance
* Maintain professionalism in parent interactions and use proper communication channels
* Present to parents when requested, e.g., at Parent Information Meetings
