WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a Web Developer for Scientific Data Platforms to join our Regional Models and Geo-Hydrological Impacts (REMHI) division, based in Caserta. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development and maintenance of web platforms and tools supporting CMCC’s projects on climate change, atmospherical monitoring, and data-driven services.
In particular, the role involves working on Dataclime, CMCC’s platform for climate data analysis and visualization, and other web-based systems designed to deliver innovative climate services and support research activities. Strong expertise in Python and full-stack web development is required, ideally with experience in data-centric or scientific applications.

ROLE
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects, supporting the Climate service & Dataclime unit that addresses climate change challenges by bridging research and end users. The developer will be capable of creating and maintaining web-based applications. The mission is to provide tailored web solutions that link climate data, potential impacts, and areas of interest through intuitive interfaces to facilitate informed decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Scientific web developer will support the REMHI Division, with:
* Platform Development: development and maintenance of the DataClime web platform, ensuring robust, scalable, and user-friendly interfaces for climate data access and visualization
* Backend Development: Design and implement server-side applications developed with Laravel framework and liveware
* Frontend Development: Create responsive and interactive web interfaces using modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) with framework like Bootstrap 5
* Database Integration: Manage and optimize both relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) for efficient climate data storage and retrieval
* Data Visualization: Implement advanced data visualization tools and interactive charts for climate data presentation
* Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and maintain applications on cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services.
REQUIREMENTS
* M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
* Minimum 3 years of experience in web development
* Strong database expertise in both relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational database systems
* Full-stack development capabilities with independence in developing application solutions for both frontend and backend
* Proficiency in modern web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, responsive design with Bootstrap 5, and modern CSS frameworks
* PHP expertise with strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and Laravel Framework
* Cross-platform experience with Linux, Unix, Windows, and DOS operating systems
* Amazon Web Services knowledge for cloud deployment and management
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting skills
* Team collaboration skills with ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
* Proficient verbal and written communication in English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
* Good knowledge Python and scientific libraries (pandas, numpy, matplotlib)
* Security best practices for web applications
* Performance optimization and monitoring tools
* Experience with WebGIS technologies and mapping libraries
* Understanding of RESTful API development and integration
* Version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
* Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) is a plus.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
* Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
* The Researcher will be based in Caserta CMCC office.
* Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience
* Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
* Flexible working time as per internal policies.
