PLC Software Engineer
to join our engineering team and contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of control systems for electrolysis plants, with a strong focus on automation and process management using PLC and SCADA systems.
Hy Dep Srl is highly specialized in the design, testing and certification of water electrolysis systems. The Company is set to grow, confirming its position on the market as engineering services and small-scale electrolyser provider and developing large-scale innovative electrolysis technology for the Group.
The ideal candidate should have experience in PLC programming, integration with field instrumentation, and the management of complex industrial processes—preferably in the chemical, energy, or environmental sector. Main Responsibilities Design, development, and maintenance of PLC software (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Phoenix, or others) for electrolysis plants (programming in Codesys). Integration and configuration of SCADA/HMI systems for process monitoring and control. Collaboration with the process and electrical engineering teams to ensure proper plant automation. Interface with field instruments (sensors, actuators, valves, analyzers) using industrial protocols (Profinet, Modbus, OPC-UA, etc.). On-site commissioning and support during plant start-up. Preparation of technical documentation (manuals, functional logics, functional diagrams). Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated processes.
Requirements
Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields. Technical diploma with proven experience.
Technical Skills At least 3–5 years of experience in PLC and SCADA/HMI programming. Knowledge of industrial automation architectures. Experience in industrial plants, preferably in electrochemical or energy environments. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA). Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.;
Soft Skills Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Analytical approach and problem-solving orientation. Flexibility and availability for national/international travel (during commissioning). Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications Direct experience on electrolysis plants (e.g., green hydrogen, chlor-alkali, other electrochemical processes). Knowledge of ATEX regulations and plant safety standards. Familiarity with DCS systems.
