Mechanical Systems Engineer – Aircraft Systems (Military & Civil Aviation) – Italy - €DOE
Location: Onsite in Northern Italy (90% onsite, 10% supplier visits)

Overview
A leading High Tech Company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer to support system engineering activities and supplier technical management across fuel, engine, environmental and pressurisation systems. This position is a replacement headcount and will sit within the systems engineering team, working closely with internal departments, suppliers, and certification authorities.
The role involves full-lifecycle engineering support including requirements definition, analysis, testing, documentation, and compliance demonstration - with a strong focus on Hot Mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Technical Delivery
Prepare, manage and update Technical Modification Dossiers (DMT), technical requirements, analyses, trade-off studies, part lists, test procedures (TRS), test reports (RPT/TNT), and compliance demonstration documents.
Support system-level design of aircraft installations, equipment layout, and integration.
Contribute to Systems Integration with Avionics, including interface documentation and design review participation.
Supplier Technical Management
Act as a technical interface between internal teams and equipment suppliers.
Lead/participate in supplier meetings and design reviews.
Prepare analyses, presentations, Engineering Coordination Memos (ECM), and Minutes of Meeting (MoM).
Track project plans, schedules, progress, delays, and action closure.
Testing, Verification & Certification
Support test planning, supervision, data analysis, and synthesis of results.
Produce documentation required for compliance with civil and military airworthiness authorities.
Support certification/homologation activities in collaboration with internal airworthiness teams.
In-Service Support
Assist Airworthiness & Customer Support with troubleshooting and analysis of in-service failures and reported issues.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
Review and verify technical documents from both internal functions and suppliers.
Deliver relevant plans, schedules, progress reports, and monthly timesheets.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong understanding of Systems Engineering processes (ARP4754A).
Knowledge of testing, verification and certification processes (CS23 / FAR23).
Background in fuel, engine, environmental or pressurisation systems highly preferred.
Fluent in technical English.
Proficient user of MS Office and MS Teams/Webex.
Strong analytical skills; experience with modelling/simulation tools (Matlab/Simulink preferred).
Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication abilities.
Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision, including remote coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Aerospace Engineering (Mechanical or Electronic considered).
Demonstrable experience in design, development or test within an aerospace environment.
Working Pattern
90% onsite at the client’s facility in Northern Italy.
10% travel to supplier sites.
Weekly progress meetings with engineering leadership.
