ROLE SUMMARY:
The International School of Como is seeking a committed and enthusiastic PYP Teacher to join the Primary School on a 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover) from August 2026.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework, supporting students’ academic, social and emotional development within a collaborative and student-centred environment.
This role is open to teachers across the PYP age range and is not specific to a single year group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework
2. Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
3. Support students’ academic, social and emotional development
4. Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
5. Contribute to collaborative planning and transdisciplinary units of inquiry
6. Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
7. Maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues
8. Participate in school events, trips and wider community initiatives
9. Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Essential
10. A recognised teaching qualification
11. Experience teaching within a Primary or Early Years setting
12. A strong understanding of inquiry-based learning
13. Excellent classroom management and communication skills
14. A collaborative and reflective approach to teaching
15. Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)
Desirable
16. Experience teaching within the IB PYP
17. Experience in an international school environment
18. Strong understanding of formative assessment practices
19. Ability to contribute to wider school life and enrichment activities
20. Italian language skills (advantageous but not essential)
