Overview
We are looking for a System Engineer to develop and maintain functional IT systems for large sport events. In this role, you should have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of systems administration and architecture. You will operate in an international and dynamic context, so fluent verbal and written English is mandatory to effectively run your daily activities. The team is composed of four people and works closely with different stakeholders: project and service managers, product owners, customers and other third parties. As part of the team, you will take contact with different figures, with the aim of supporting the business and solving difficult technical situations. The ability to work in an accurate and reliable manner is fundamental in a context in which multi-tasking and time management are relevant to be successful.
Responsibilities
* Live event / venue operations: Prepare, deploy, and support venue IT infrastructure and services for live events (remote and on-site), including pre-event readiness and event-time incident response.
* Live event / venue operations: Participate in event on-call rotation (nights/weekends) and execute structured troubleshooting under pressure.
* Live event / venue operations: Design, configure, and operate venue networks: VLANs, routing/switching, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
* Live event / venue operations: Configure and operate Fortinet firewalls (policies, VPN, security controls) and support secure connectivity between venue and remote services.
* Systems administration and virtualization: Administer and harden Windows Server and Linux environments; manage core services and standard configurations.
* Systems administration and virtualization: Operate virtualized environments used for event delivery (e.g., Hyper-V/VMware or Proxmox), including lifecycle, capacity, and reliability tasks.
* Security, patching, and access control: Apply security hardening and baseline controls across systems and networks.
* Security, patching, and access control: Execute patching and vulnerability remediation activities aligned with event schedules and change windows.
* Security, patching, and access control: Manage access control and operational security practices (least privilege, auditing where applicable).
* Application hosting and middleware operations: Support web hosting stacks, including configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting both on prem and on Cloud.
* Application hosting and middleware operations: Operate supporting services such as MSSQL clusters (operational tasks; no DBA ownership), MongoDB, and RabbitMQ, focusing on availability and troubleshooting.

Requirements
* 5+ years’ experience in System Engineering in production environments (preferably high-availability or event-like operations).
* Proven experience with both layer2 and layer3 networking in operational environments: VLANs, switching/routing fundamentals, VPN
* Working experience with Fortinet firewalls (or equivalent enterprise firewall experience with willingness to ramp up fast on Fortinet).
* Strong hands-on skills with Windows Server and Linux administration and troubleshooting
* Medium Experience with Windows clusters and MSSQL database
* Medium Experience with the design, implementation and operation of hosting solutions based on Microsoft technology both on prem and on Cloud.
* Strong knowledge of DNS
* Hardware Experience with laptops, workstations, etc.
* Sharp troubleshooting skills and analytic acumen
* Ability to work both independently and in team
* Comfortable with on-call duties during events and working effectively under pressure
* Fluent verbal and written English
* Availability to do some business trips
* Basic knowledge of networking: routers, switches
Bonus knowledge
* Experience with containers / Kubernetes / K3s in edge or on-prem contexts
* Ability to deal with Wi-Fi networks: configuration & setup
* Experience with dynamic routing protocols OSPF
* Strong automation mindset beyond basics (structured playbooks, idempotent automation, configuration baselines).
* Familiar with Jira and structured ITSM/change processes.
* Exposure to live event environments, broadcast-related operations, or venue deployments
