Job Description:
As an R&D Engineer, you will join the Technology Center South Europe, part of the global Technology organization of the Business Unit Transformer. Based in Monselice (Italy), you will contribute to projects related to the short circuit withstand of power transformers, supporting as a domain expert the design platforms.
How you’ll make an impact
* Propose and develop new technologies, products, and processes for core type transformers.
* Lead and manage R&D projects independently, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards following Hitachi Energy's internal processes.
* Maintain existing and develop new technical standards and design tools for transformers.
* Share knowledge and findings through reports, specifications, and participation in educational programs.
* Assess production processes, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
* Support factory troubleshooting within your domain of expertise.
* Assist platform developers by creating technical specifications in your domain.
* Develop and expand relationships with stakeholders, including internal teams, research centers, and external partners such as customers and universities, proposing potential collaborations.
Your background
* Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with over 5 years of experience in the Power Transformer industry.
* Extensive experience in power transformer design, testing, and manufacturing.
* Strong knowledge of short circuit physics in power transformers.
* Proficiency in finite element electromagnetic analysis software.
* Experience with design and verification software/applications used in engineering design tools.
* Knowledge of programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python is a plus.
* Understanding of mechanical calculations related to structures (bending, torsion, etc.) and knowledge of materials used in power transformer manufacturing is advantageous.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for presenting technical concepts to various stakeholders.
