Why you should join: The Connected Living Solutions Business Unit is seeking a Senior R&D Product Development Engineer to design and develop Terminal, Splices, and Connectors. You will be responsible for designing and documenting new products, from market definition through production and release. Your tasks will include determining specifications, performing engineering analyses, creating preliminary sketches and designs, and coordinating support operations such as fabrication, engineering samples, and testing. Additionally, you will maintain legacy products, including VAVE activities, customer inquiries, and manufacturing support. Your main tasks: Lead product development for Terminal, Splices, and Connectors from market definition to production release. Collaborate with customers, TE Product Managers, Sales, and Field Application Engineers to translate Voice of Customer (VOC) into design concepts and specifications. Conduct feasibility studies, including mechanical and thermal simulations. Develop detailed 2D/3D designs, perform DFMEA and tolerance analysis, and build and validate prototypes. Manage product qualification and final specifications. Provide technical support to Operations for efficiency and successful product launches. Resolve product issues and manage ECN and PCN processes. Support projects through the LEANPD process, ensuring timely, quality, and budget adherence. Offer technical support to customers, sales, project management, and manufacturing teams, including testing, analysis, troubleshooting, and verification. Work with global manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to meet technical, quality, and cost goals. Develop technical documentation such as design drawings, requirements, change notices, and design history files. Maintain legacy products, including VAVE activities, customer inquiries, and manufacturing support. Your ideal background: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. At least 4 years in mechanical engineering, focusing on electrical components, device design, mechanical structures, tooling, or process development. Knowledge of connector design, material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and product qualification. Proficiency in 3D design tools (e.g., Creo, Spaceclaim) and GD&T. Experience with finite element analysis tools (e.g., Ansys) as an occasional user. Ability to write design objectives and product specifications. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM principles. Fluent in English (verbal and written) for global communication. Comfortable working across time zones and collaborating globally.
