Your Role And Responsibilities As a Delivery Consultant, you will work closely with IBM clients and partners to design, deliver, and optimize IBM Technology solutions that align with your clients' goals. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to ensure world‑class delivery while leveraging consultative skills such as problem‑solving, issue‑/hypothesis‑based methodologies, communication, and service orientation skills. As a member of IBM Technology Expert Labs, a team that is client focused, courageous, pragmatic, and technical, you'll collaborate with clients to optimize and trailblaze new solutions that address real business challenges. To help achieve this win‑win outcome, a 'day‑in‑the‑life' of this opportunity may include, but is not limited to:
Solving client challenges effectively: Understand clients' main challenges and develop solutions that help them reach true business value through design, development, integration, implementation, migration and product support with a sense of urgency. Agile planning and execution: Create and execute agile plans, installing and provisioning assets, testing, migrating to production and day‑two operations. Technical solution workshops: Conduct and participate in technical solution workshops. Building effective relationships: Develop successful relationships at all levels—from engineers to CxOs—navigating challenging debate to reach healthy resolutions. Self‑motivated problem solver: Demonstrate a natural bias toward self‑motivation, curiosity, initiative and navigating data and people to find answers and present solutions. Collaboration and communication: Exhibit strong collaboration and communication skills while working across the client, partner and IBM teams.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
General IT basics: Basic understanding of how computers and operating systems work, familiarity with files, folders, simple commands and basic networking awareness. Mainframe/IBM Z awareness: Basic understanding of what a mainframe is and why it is used. Operating system basics: Understanding of users, permissions and system access; willingness to learn z/OS concepts and tools. Programming and logic fundamentals: Exposure to at least one programming or scripting language (COBOL, Java, Python, or similar). Data and databases – basic level: Understanding that data is stored and processed by systems; knowledge of SQL or databases is a plus, not required. Linux and open systems – introductory: Basic familiarity with Linux or command‑line environments; curiosity about Linux on IBM Z. Support and operations mindset: Ability to follow procedures and step‑by‑step instructions. Attention to detail and accuracy: Understanding the importance of system stability and reliability. Security awareness: Basic understanding that systems must be protected; awareness of passwords, access rights, and user roles; willingness to follow security rules and guidelines. Documentation and communication: Ability to read technical documentation and write simple notes or reports; basic English reading and communication skills. Key attitudes: Strong motivation to learn, reliability and sense of responsibility, ability to work in a team, and interest in long‑term technical growth.
