The Red Hat Developer Hub team is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work as an engineer on the engineering team, developing new features and contributing to the Developer Hub and Backstage upstream projects.
This team focuses on a few key project areas:
1. Deployment targets & installation methods
2. Developing & enhancing Backstage plugins
3. Creating golden paths & templates
4. Contributing to the Janus IDP and Backstage communities by delivering features and fixes to the upstream projects
What You Will Do
5. Develop a deep understanding of the technologies and frameworks used within the Red Hat Developer Hub and related projects
6. Contribute to upstream open source projects by submitting and reviewing patches for bug fixes and feature requests to and from the community
7. Design and implement automation frameworks, including automated tests and quality checks, to support robust CI/CD pipelines
8. Operate effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment where both timely delivery and long-term vision are valued
9. Collaborate with team leads, architects, and engineers to design and implement scalable, maintainable solutions
10. Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
11. Create and maintain technical documentation for new and existing functionality
12. Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies and contribute to an agile development process
13. Coordinate and communicate effectively with engineering and leadership teams across global time zones
14. Help establish and refine processes that enhance release quality, consistency, and automation
15. Advocate for the team’s work through blog posts, community updates, and conference presentations
What You Will Bring
16. Extensive experience as a software developer, software engineer, or in a similar technical role
17. Extensive experience with TypeScript, including proficiency in modern frameworks and adherence to best practices; hands-on experience with React and YAML
18. Proficient in using Git for version control and collaboration
19. Solid understanding of release engineering and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes
20. Experience working with microservices architectures, containers, and cloud-native application development
21. Familiarity with various testing strategies and tiers, including unit tests; experience with integration and end-to-end tests is a plus
22. Advanced debugging and root cause analysis skills
23. Proven experience contributing to and leading efforts in open source communities
24. Strong communication skills, accountability, and a proactive approach to learning
25. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The following are considered a plus:
26. A passion for open source technologies, especially around data solutions
27. Familiarity with design-thinking concepts and implementations
28. Experience with Agile software development
