Artificial intelligence space engineer

In this role you design and develop trustworthy AI components for space-related domains. You work with cross-functional teams to select cutting-edge AI techniques and implement solutions, including NLP, multimodal human–machine dialog, and hybrid AI. You apply rigorous methods, ensure traceability, and stay ahead of trends in AI, ethics, and design. This position offers the chance to impact mission‑critical space systems and contribute to innovative space programs.

• Design and develop AI components tailored to user needs and domain requirements
• Identify and implement cutting‑edge AI technologies (ML, symbolic, dialogue) for various solutions
• Work on NLP/NLU and multimodal human–machine dialog with intent understanding and reasoning
• Explore data‑driven and symbolic AI approaches, including causality, meta‑heuristics, and optimization
• Propose alternative approaches and integrate them within an engineering workflow
• Ensure data knowledge, traceability, and alignment with systems engineering methods
• Maintain awareness of latest trends, including ethical‑by‑design considerations
• Define system capabilities through functional, logical, and value analyses to maximize customer value

• Strong foundations in mathematics, statistics, and algorithms
• Proficiency in AI approaches: data‑driven AI, symbolic AI, or hybrid AI
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and standards
• Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders across roles
• Experience with machine learning concepts and deployment to studies or projects
• Foundational programming knowledge in Python (PyTorch), Java, or C++ and data science libraries (NumPy, SciPy, scikit‑learn, pandas)
• Working familiarity with Matlab/Simulink is a plus
• Comfort with iterative, agile development and experiment planning
