The Role: We are looking for a Laser Communication System Engineer to support the development of optical ground stations and satellite laser systems. This role involves system design, performance analysis, and integration of cutting-edge optical technology for space and ground applications. You will work closely with teams across engineering disciplines to deliver high-performance communication solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Design and develop optical ground stations for laser communication and satellite laser ranging. Define system architecture, requirements, and performance targets. Manage system interfaces and oversee integration and verification. Conduct simulations and performance analysis. Prepare technical documentation and coordinate with subcontractors. Support customer interactions and ensure project goals are met.
What You’ll Need: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or Physics. 2+ years of experience in optical systems for laser communication. Knowledge of free-space optical communication, satellite laser ranging, or laser beam propagation. Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or Octave for simulations. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team. Good command of English.
Preferred Skills: Experience with adaptive optics, laser physics, photonics, optical detection, or tracking systems. Familiarity with optical communication system design and simulation tools. Knowledge of Zemax for optical system modeling.
