This is a full‐time temporary position at grade 5, with a contract term of four years.PurposeYou will manage and develop the EIBG art collection in alignment with the Bank's strategic priorities, supporting contemporary European artists, promoting young talent and reflecting the institution's commitment to sustainability, innovation and social progress through a clear accessioning and deaccessioning strategy.Operating NetworkThe Art Collection Curator reports directly to the head of Asset and Property Management. While the Artwork Collection Manager handles operational and asset‐management aspects, the Curator is responsible for the artistic, strategic and curatorial vision of the collection.Accountabilities
Develop and implement the artistic vision and curatorial strategy for the collection to ensure alignment with the Bank's priorities and mission.Lead the strategic accessioning and deaccessioning process based on artistic value and institutional relevance.Engage with contemporary European artists and emerging talent to identify and support promising works.Curate exhibitions and interpretive programs that communicate the collection's themes of sustainability, innovation and social progress.Provide expert advice and recommendations to the Art Committee on acquisitions, deaccessions and artist collaborations.Collaborate with the Artwork Collection Manager to ensure effective implementation of curatorial decisions in care, logistics and compliance.Represent the Bank's art collection externally, liaising with artists, galleries, cultural institutions and partners.
Qualifications
University degree (minimum Bachelor) in Art History, Museum Studies, Curatorial Studies or a related field.Minimum five years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a corporate, institutional or museum environment.Proven track record in strategic accessioning and deaccessioning of artworks aligned with institutional goals.Experience engaging with contemporary European artists and managing artist relationships.Demonstrated experience organising exhibitions, educational programmes or public engagement initiatives.Deep knowledge of contemporary European art movements, artists and emerging trends.Familiarity with principles of sustainability and social responsibility in the arts.Understanding of collection management standards, conservation principles and legal/ethical considerations in art curation.Strong curatorial vision with the ability to develop strategic art collection plans.Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.Proficiency in collection inventory and management software (e.g., MuseumPlus, TMS, ArtBase).Competence in project management and budgeting.Analytical skills to assess artistic value in line with institutional priorities.Excellent knowledge of English and/or French with a good command of the other; knowledge of additional EU languages is an advantage.
