Job Title: Systems Security Engineer II Reports to: On-Site IT Program Manager Summary/Objective: The Systems Security Engineer II will work within the base Cybersecurity team on full spectrum Cybersecurity, from Policy and Governance to Vulnerability Management and Threat Defense. Responsibilities: The Systems Security Engineer II at AFRL should have general knowledge or experience in federal or corporate Cybersecurity with 1-3 years’ experience in the following areas: Vulnerability Management: Vulnerability scanning and identification Mitigation and remediation Threat Defense: Intrusion detection and protection SIEM log and event correlation Governance and Compliance: Policy development Auditing Equipment/Systems: This position requires frequent use of computers, printers, and various software applications. Experience with MS Office, ticketing systems, and IT asset management software is essential. Competencies: The role requires attention to detail, accuracy, excellent listening skills, effective communication, and technical proficiency in hardware, software, and networking. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently is critical. Work Environment & Physical Demands: This job operates primarily in an office setting, involving standard office equipment. Duties may include lifting equipment, using ladders, walking large office buildings, and loading/unloading items.
