Job Description
Qualifications:
* Associate’s Degree
* A minimum of forty-eight (48) hours of college coursework
* Met state standard on a rigorous assessment (ACT Work Keys)
* Additional qualifications as determined appropriate by the Superintendent and Board of Trustees
Job Goal:
To assist the teacher or other certified educator in providing a well-organized, effective learning environment to enable students to make optimum progress toward achieving educational goals.
Performance Responsibilities:
* Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
* Conducts learning exercises with small groups of students.
* Guides students in working and playing harmoniously with one another.
* Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual students.
* Provides one-on-one tutoring for eligible students, scheduled at times when students would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.
* Assists with classroom management, such as organizing instructional materials.
* Provides assistance in the computer laboratory.
* Supports activities in a library or media center.
* Acts as a translator.
* Checks and records attendance.
* Assists with student supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, and other occasions.
* Assists in maintaining student portfolios.
* Helps teachers maintain a conducive educational environment.
* Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or principal, in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year are determined by the Board.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated by the Principal in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
