Solaris Biotech, a Donaldson brand, designs and manufactures bioprocessing equipment, including bioreactors, fermenters, and tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems for R&D and production purposes. We provide high-tech bioprocess solutions used in universities, research centers, biotech, pharma, food and beverage, nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, chemical, agricultural industries, as well as in bioplastics and biofuels applications. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer based in Porto Mantovano. Key Responsibilities: Support R&D efforts for up- and downstream bioprocessing by designing and developing innovative bioreactor and filtration solutions for the biotech, pharma, and food & beverage industries. Apply industry and engineering experience to innovate and solve complex customer challenges, creating competitive advantages in bioprocessing. Develop mechanical designs of product concepts in 3D. Perform calculations and simulations in collaboration with process engineering and manufacturing teams. Ensure engineering design compliance with cGMP, pharmaceutical regulations, and local laws. Assist in evaluating prototypes for manufacturability and performance. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Pharmaceutical Engineering. 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design of equipment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams. Basic understanding of regulatory and quality standards (CE, cGMP, etc.). Fluent English; willingness to learn Italian is a plus. Technical Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of process control and P&ID standards. Ability to size hydraulic lines and main process equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, agitation systems, valves, etc.). Understanding of machinery safety regulations (Machinery Directive, PED, ASME-U, etc.). Experience with 2D/3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Siemens NX.
