Job Scope:
· Responsible for executing the company's design needs, primarily, the design of product, tools, and equipment for all stages of product life cycle. Position requires utilization of CAE/CAD skills and expertise in mold and mechanical design functions;
· Development of a robust and optimal product design for function (application input) within NPD projects;
· Manage the construction, development, realization and maintenance of all product related tooling within NPD projects and Part Improvement Projects (PIP) according to strategic goals set;
· Develop, obtain and document tool related knowledge and expertise;
· Coordinator of the tool suppliers within VAS (excl. equipment's).
Primary Responsibilities:
· To accurately and efficiently design and create drawings for products molds, finishing tools and manufacturing equipment;
· Analyze customer needs and translate these in product designs as NPD team member;
· Apply Co-design of part solutions accordance customer specifications and Internal capabilities as NPD team member;
· Work closely with internal and external tooling suppliers in support of design and print revision activities;
· Support the organization on the tool suppliers development (existing and possible new suppliers) and coordinate the activities;
· Calculation of tooling per 'cost estimation" phase and manage tooling cost including completion of the 'transfer to manufacturing phase";
· Definition (construct) and Manage (realization) all part related tool supplies (Encl. also test and quality fixtures) according Vernay specification on ergonomics and robust maintenance aspects, within NPD and PIP projects;
· Create tools check list, maintenance plan for all new NPD or operation tool modification (in cooperation with NPDE and Ops representative);
· Responsible for incoming tool inspection;
· Manage tool supplies within specific goals set —> First Time Right on quality, timing and cost;
· Strategic development and maintain of tool supplier/partners according the strategic goals set;
· Support to Operational Problem solving teams, Complaint handling and Engineering Change process in relation to tooling activities;
· Support team activities including the establishment and implementation of tooling standardization;
· Track and manage all projects in terms of timing;
· Ensure that Vernay is meeting the customer specific requirements, internal company targets and following the accepted quality standards such as ISO, IATF 16949, etc.;
· Comply with safety/housekeeping procedures and company policies;
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
· Minimum of an A.S. in an area of Design Technology (drafting/CAD/CAE) or 3 plus years' experience in the design/CAD field;
· BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is desired;
· Fluency in English
