The American Red Cross is hiring SAF / IS Reserve employees to join our elite workforce of mobile employees deploying overseas to support military personnel and DOD civilians. Deployments occur every January and July, with locations including Kuwait, Djibouti, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, or Lithuania. These positions are remote-based with a time commitment of approximately 6 months of deployment overseas. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW : SAF / IS Reservists assist in delivering Red Cross programs to meet the needs of U.S. military members, veterans, and their families, in line with Red Cross policies. These elite mobile Reservists deploy on 6-month rotations worldwide, must be ready to deploy when called, and meet specific medical and readiness requirements. Employment requirements include: Citizenship enabling a secret security clearance and a no-fee passport. Worldwide mobility as an essential function. Willingness to accept assignments anywhere, including conflict zones. Strict medical and immunization requirements. Potential requirement to wear military uniforms and endure harsh environments. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD : Emergency Communications: Provide emergency communications between military personnel and families. Morale & Welfare: Support morale and welfare programs on installations, including hospital visits, events, and distribution of donations. Relationship Management: Represent the Red Cross and foster relationships with military command. Volunteer Management: Supervise volunteers, handle recruitment, training, and recognition, ensuring diversity. Deployment Readiness: Maintain readiness through training, medical requirements, and regular leadership meetings. The salary range is $47,900 - $50,000, based on location, with deployment incentives available. Salaries are location-specific, and the pay is pro-rated during deployment; upon return, employment status shifts to inactive. This job posting remains active for a minimum of 5 business days and may be extended. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED : Education : Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience : Minimum of three years in related roles. Management experience is not required. A valid driver’s license with a good record is required. Skills include strong computer skills, public speaking, effective communication, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of Red Cross programs and military culture is a plus. Depending on the assignment, ambulatory skills for site visits or physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds may be required. Mobility and ability to work under challenging conditions are essential. Work Conditions : Work may be outdoors or indoors, with potential exposure to hazards in relief work. Conditions during deployment can be harsh, uncomfortable, and stressful.
