We Are Looking For a Space Systems Procurement Professional To Support The Procurement Activities Related To Spacecraft Sub-systems, With a Dual Responsibility
* acting as procurement reference for the Orbital Access Business Unit, supporting programs and operational needs
* owning procurement activities for one or more technical product categories, such as AOCS, EPS, COM, or other spacecraft sub-systems
This is a hands-on role with strong responsibility for
day-to-day procurement execution
, including purchase order management, supplier follow-up, and expediting, combined with ownership of procurement planning, risk management, and sourcing activities.
The role requires
international mobility
, including participation in international trade fairs, conferences, and supplier visits worldwide, supporting supplier scouting, qualification, and relationship management.
You will work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Production, Quality, Finance, and Legal, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Procurement & Program Support
* Execute requisitions and purchase orders for direct materials and services related to space sub-systems, including AOCS, EPS, COM, testing services, machined parts, composites, electronic boards, and components
* Act as procurement point of contact for Orbital Access programs, supporting schedule, cost, and delivery priorities
* Ensure timely order placement, confirmation, expediting, and delivery follow-up in line with program needs
* Manage day-to-day supplier interactions on pricing, lead times, technical clarifications, and delivery commitments
* Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and contractual data within the ERP system
Procurement Planning & Risk Management
* Develop and maintain procurement plans aligned with program schedules, budgets, and technical roadmaps
* Identify and assess procurement and supply chain risks (cost, schedule, availability, single-source, obsolescence)
* Define and support risk mitigation actions, in coordination with Engineering, Program Management, and Quality
* Contribute to make-or-buy analyses and sourcing strategies from a risk and cost perspective
Category & Supplier Ownership
* Manage procurement activities for assigned product categories within space systems and sub-systems
* Support supplier selection, qualification, and performance monitoring
* Negotiate commercial conditions and support framework agreements in collaboration with Legal
* Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and availability of space-grade components and sub-systems
Supplier Engagement & Market Scouting
* Visit and engage with suppliers and partners worldwide for sourcing, qualification, audits, and relationship management
* Support supplier scouting and technology evaluation activities in collaboration with Engineering and Quality
Risk, Quality & Process
* Support resolution of delivery, quality, or contractual issues
* Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and governance
Required Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement roles within aerospace, space, electronics, or other high-reliability engineering environments
* Proven experience in operational procurement, including purchase order execution and supplier follow-up
* Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage procurement plans and procurement-related risk analyses
* Experience in procurement of spacecraft sub-systems or complex technical components
* Ability to interact effectively with engineering and program stakeholders
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a program-driven environment
* Good negotiation skills and commercial awareness
* Familiarity with ERP systems and structured procurement processes
* Proactive, reliable, and execution-oriented mindset
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering (Aerospace, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or similar)
* Fluency in Italian and English
Nice To Have Qualifications
* Direct experience in the New Space sector, including startups, scale-ups, or commercial space programs
* Established knowledge of, or professional network within, the New Space ecosystem, including suppliers, manufacturers, and technology providers
* Experience in procurement of specific spacecraft sub-systems (e.g. AOCS, EPS, COM)
* Familiarity with space-grade components and suppliers
* Experience participating in international trade fairs, supplier audits, or industry events
* Experience working in multi-program or BU-oriented environments
