The New York State Education Department is seeking a qualified instructor to provide substitute teaching services at the New York State School for the Deaf.
This position involves providing instruction to students in the absence of the regular Instructor, supervising students in various settings, and following established emergency plans and Individualized Education Plans.
Requirements
* A bachelor's degree or higher is required.
* Candidates with New York State Certification in Special Education or other State Certification, ability to communicate through American Sign Language (ASL), prior successful teaching experience, and experience working with special needs students are preferred.
It is essential that candidates clearly indicate how they meet the minimum qualifications in their resume. Verification of degree and/or transcripts and valid New York State teaching certification will be required at the time of interview.
This is a temporary, hourly, on-call position leading to a maximum salary of $40.38/hour based on qualifications. Promotion salaries are calculated according to NYS Civil Service Law and negotiated union contracts.
