POSITION PURPOSE

To create and maintain a positive, stimulating environment that promotes a culture of learning and fosters school readiness in the community. Establish objectives for all lessons. Assess family needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Assist in planning, creating, and implementing a dynamic preschool classroom environment conductive to learning to support the physical, social, and emotional development of children and families.
* Provide developmentally appropriate early childhood play‑based activities for children and families birth through 5 years to encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem‑solving.
* Model appropriate parent‑child interaction and positive parenting techniques.
* Select materials and activities appropriate for the program.
* Collaborate with team to develop lesson plans and share best practices to provide comprehensive services to the children and parents being served.
* Assist in completing and maintaining all documentation and essential records as required by the program in a timely and comprehensive manner.
* Represent the District's Traveling Preschool Bus program at community events supporting children and parents.
* Assist in coordinating and promoting site visit locations in the community.
* Advocate for parents in accessing resources and support services as needed.
* Assist with child developmental screenings.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Coordinator of Early Childhood, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Associates Degree or College degree in early childhood education or a related field of study preferred.
* Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge about what promotes optimal parent‑child interaction and birth–five child development.
* Become qualified to administer developmental screenings.
* 60 college credit hours from an accredited college or university; OR
* Satisfactory score on Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment.
* Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B or higher (CDL) to operate a school bus.
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of three years supervised experience working with young children and their parents.
* To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.

* Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
