About the Role:
Reporting to the central Data & AI team, the Lead Data Engineer & Data Architect is a newly created, strategic role designed to support Ferrero’s global digital transformation journey. Operating across all countries and product categories, with a strong focus on the Sales and Marketing domain, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how consumer and shopper data is structured, governed and leveraged at Group level.
In this role, you will act as both a technical leader and an architectural reference point, driving the evolution of Ferrero’s data engineering capabilities while ensuring consistency, scalability and governance across complex, global data ecosystems. You will be responsible for guiding a globally distributed team of Data Engineers and for designing, connecting and optimizing data models that enable analytics ready, trusted data for reporting, advanced analytics and AI initiatives.
The position is based in our Alba offices, with flexibility for remote work up to two days per week.
Main Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for shaping and executing the data architecture strategy for the Consumer and Shopper domain, supporting global initiatives focused on standardizing data models, processes and practices across markets and categories.
In this role, you will lead and develop a globally distributed team of Data Engineers, fostering technical consistency, governance compliance and a strong culture of engagement and professional growth.
A key part of your contribution will be the design, evolution and documentation of data models related to media and digital campaigns, eCommerce, retailers and third party data sources, enabling seamless data integration and efficient querying across consumer, customer and shopper data sets.
By working closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts and IT Centers of Excellence, you will translate business needs into scalable and robust data solutions, proactively identifying data related challenges and defining appropriate architectural responses.
You will also oversee the design and implementation of data integration and exchange processes, leveraging APIs, data feeds and batch processing to guarantee reliable, timely and high quality data availability.
Finally, you will play a central role in ensuring adherence to master data principles and in continuously improving data governance standards, procedures and controls, with the objective of delivering globally consistent, trusted and AI ready data assets.
About You:
You hold a master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Data Architecture, Information Systems or a related technical field, and you bring solid experience in data engineering and data architecture roles within complex environments.
You have a strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, governance, security and lifecycle management, and you have hands on experience designing and implementing scalable data solutions with a strong focus on operational excellence and automation.
Your technical background includes proven experience with ETL and data engineering platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Analysis Services, as well as SQL based database design and data catalog technologies like Purview. Familiarity with data lake architectures, big data technologies, cloud platforms (especially Microsoft Azure), DevOps practices, AI platforms and Python is highly valued.
You are comfortable leading technical teams in multicultural, cross functional and remote settings, and you are fluent in English. Above all, you bring energy, strategic thinking and sound judgement, combined with curiosity, a problem solving mindset and a genuine interest in data, technology and the FMCG industry.
