Team Overview and Job responsibilities
Within Operations, in the Purchasing function, the Global Commodity Leader (GCL) for Utilities has responsibility to collect and analyze the information on WW Utilities spend (Power + Gas) through a dedicated reporting tool and monitor/ suggest fixation activities whenever prices are considered favorable in order to minimize company exposure to price volatility.
He/she will have to interact regularly with the global team establishing regular follow up activities with the local responsible for utilities in each region in order to suggest and follow up on price fixation activities or try to anticipate future market trends; updating the utilities report on quarterly basis and optimizing the investments of the Group on the Guarantees of Origin certificates (GoO’s).
The candidate will communicate and coordinate with local purchasing teams, finance and other involved functions.
He/her will also assist local teams in the management of tenders and ad hoc initiatives. Moreover, GCL for utilities will have an active role in reaching the decarbonization targets for Scope 2 emission set by Prysmian by acting as leader and pivot for PPAs which are a consistent strategical asset for getting to the target set by the company.
He/she will be responsible for identifying the best supplier from time to time as well as the most convenient pricing option and contractual scheme (PPA off-site virtual vs. off-site physical) and align with key functions for the successful implementation of such complex contracts (finance, administration, treasury, key decision makers, sustainability, operations, legal).
In addition he/she will be asked to provide regular updates to the whole purchasing community on the utilities macro-trends in order to facilitate the negotiations for raw materials and base metals, providing arguments for helping colleagues in containing any energy surcharge request
The ideal candidate will have the responsibilities for:
1. Coordinating and updating the WW utilities reporting (c.a. 200€Mln spend WW), ensuring alignment and timely actions taken to optimize the spend and minimize risk exposure
2. Supporting the countries in fixation proposals providing market insights as well as supporting through personal knowledge and direct support of specialized third parties
3. Supporting the company in achieving Scope 2 emission reduction targets through GoO purchase and PPAs (which will have to be actively managed by utilities GCL)
4. Providing know-how and help to all affiliates in solving issues/ answering questions linked to utilities management. This activity could include performing business cases to support innovative solutions and evaluate the return on investment
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Category Senior Buyer with the following key requirements:
5. Deep knowledge on utilities market (both electricity and gas) at European level. Having completed a PPA in a previous working experience would be considered as a plus
6. At least from 5 to 7 years of relevant sourcing and procurement experience possibly in multinational companies with a strong knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures
7. A master’s degree in engineering or economics
8. Flexible mind set
9. Problem-solving attitude
10. Strong ability to network and work with international teams
11. Capabilities in managing priorities and time
12. Fluent English both written and spoken
13. Strong negotiation skills
14. Good knowledge of Windows Office application
