Based in **Rome** and reporting to the **Senior Director, EMEA Government Relations & Public Affairs**, this role will be responsible for defining and executing a best-in-class government relations strategy that enhances Thermo Fisher’s reputation, strengthens stakeholder relationships, and drives policy outcomes aligned with our mission and business priorities. This is a high-impact, highly visible leadership role, requiring a senior professional who can operate autonomously, influence at the highest levels, and act as a trusted advisor to both internal leadership and external stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities** **Strategic Leadership & Policy Development**
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Italy Government Relations strategy, aligned with EMEA and global priorities
- Identify and prioritise key policy themes and legislative developments impacting Thermo Fisher’s operations and growth
- Provide strategic counsel to country leadership and EMEA leadership on political and regulatory developments
- Shape Thermo Fisher’s public policy positions to support innovation, healthcare advancement, and industry growth **Stakeholder Engagement & External Representation**
- Serve as the primary representative and point of contact for Thermo Fisher with: - Government officials and policymakers
- Regulatory authorities
- Trade associations and industry bodies
- Embassies, NGOs, and advocacy organisations
- Build and maintain high-value relationships at senior levels across the Italian ecosystem
- Represent Thermo Fisher at industry forums, conferences, and policy discussions, positioning the company as a thought leader **Policy Advocacy & Influence**
- Lead engagement on consultations, policy proposals, and legislative processes
- Build coalitions and partnerships to advance aligned policy positions
- Drive Thermo Fisher’s presence and influence within industry associations, ensuring effective representation of business priorities
- Coordinate advocacy strategies that support market access, innovation, and regulatory alignment **Internal Collaboration & Business Partnership**
- Partner closely with: - Italy country leadership
- Commercial and operational teams
- Legal, compliance, and communications functions
- Translate complex policy developments into clear business insights and **actions**: - Lead the development of briefing materials, position papers, and executive communications
- Support and coordinate C-suite engagement and high-level visits in Italy **Monitoring & Intelligence**
- Establish robust processes for**monitoring and analysing legislative and regulatory developments
- Provide timely, actionable updates to internal stakeholders
- Anticipate risks and opportunities, enabling proactive positioning You are a credible and well-connected government affairs leader with a strong understanding of the Italian political and regulatory landscape. You bring a strategic mindset, executive presence, and the ability to influence at senior levels within complex environments. **Experience & Capabilities**
- Proven experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory roles, ideally within life sciences, healthcare, or a highly regulated industry
- Strong network across the**Italian political, legislative, and regulatory ecosystem
- Track record of developing and executing impactful policy and advocacy strategies
- Ability to translate policy developments into clear business implications
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in **Law, Political Science, International Relations, Public Affairs**, or related field
