Overview:
The primary function of this position is to assist in new product development related to encapsulation and coating technologies from lab bench formulations to industrial implementation. You work very closely with the senior scientist from Kemin Cavriago, the r&D staff and staff from other departments, and you have contact with peers on a worldwide level. This function requires a substantial amount of hands-on work to complete projects, combined with comprehensive reporting in both written and oral communications throughout the company.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for supporting multiple R&D projects
- Responsible for supporting the development of specific active molecules encapsulation and coating at bench, pilot and production scale at the Kemin Cavriago plant.
- Support the development and implementation of methods to analyze the activities of active molecules in different matrices.
- Ran literature searches as needed
- Assist in administration of research and development projects per the Production Innovation Process and project execution considering established priorities and timelines
- Timely compilation of scientific reports both for internal reference and external communication.
- Contribute to scientific publications used for internal purposes.
- Ensure that all tasks are followed according to Kemin's system procedures and internal instructions of the quality system
- Work closely with other functional areas within Kemin Cavriago to ensure that projects are developed in an efficient and timely fashion.
- Provide support to quality improvement projects of encapsulated and coated products.
- Provide support to regulatory activities for encapsulated and coated products.
Qualifications:
- Master of science in chemistry, pharmaceutical or processing technologies with 3-5 years of experience or PhD with a dissertation in the similar field of research.
- Very open minded towards new technologies, absorbs new insights and competencies, a keen desire to grow and develop in this area.
- Experience in formulation research, biochemical analysis, coating technology and processes including several technologies (eg granulation, fluid bed, extrusion, spray-drying).
- Self-starter takes initiative to get the job done.
- Team player and good communicator.
- Ability both to think conceptual and act hands-on.
- Analytical mind and drive for execution.
- Broad knowledge on analytical chemical analysis
- Fluent in Italian and English, both in oral and written communication.
- Ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with all levels of management within a team environment.
