Every system we build helps connect people to education, healthcare, opportunity, and each other. /ppAs a Satellite Communication (SATCOM) System Engineer, you will be responsible for Customer Terminal (CT) architecture, integration and validation with hardware, software, and firmware. You will work in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team including electrical hardware, antenna, simulation, silicon, algorithm, firmware, and software engineers. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliDevelop the CT architecture by working closely with sub-system engineers in electrical, RF, antenna, thermal, modem, DSP, ASIC, algorithm, firmware, modeling, and software /liliDevelop the validation plans, build the validation infrastructure, execute testing, analyze data, and report the results to the stakeholders /liliInvestigate and resolve validation failures by leading cross-functional teams /liliEnsure the delivered work meets technical, functional, performance, regulatory, and business requirements /liliPerform in-field and on-orbit validation with satellites /liliTravel up to 10% of the time, depending on project phases /li /ulpExport Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. /ppA day in the life: As a SATCOM System Engineer on the Amazon Leo Customer Terminal Team, you will work daily with electrical hardware, RF, antenna, silicon, and product design engineers, as well as software and operations teams in a collaborative environment. Your focus will be on architecting, integrating, and verifying customer terminal functional performance to ensure it delights our customers. /ppAbout the team: The Leo Customer Terminal team is responsible for developing both outdoor indoor devices, enabling customers internet service via the Leo satellite network. We own the entire process from early prototypes through mass production including requirements documents, architecture definition, hardware development, and all integration/verification testing. /ph3Basic Qualifications /h3ulli5+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience /liliExperience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc. /liliBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or other relevant engineering discipline /lili5+ years of satellite terminal development, integration, and validation experience /liliStrong understanding of communication systems, RF, and antenna /liliExperience in MATLAB, Python or C++ /liliFamiliarity with test instruments such as spectrum analyzer, vector signal analyzers, channel emulators, and GNSS emulators /li /ulh3Preferred Qualifications /h3ulliMaster or PhD degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline /liliKnowledge of digital communication systems, error correction, synchronization, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques, and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK, and QAM /liliUnderstanding of free space communication and satellite link budget principals in K band /liliExperience in developing simulation and modeling tools /liliFamiliarity with active and passive RF components, beamforming circuits, electromagnetic propagation /liliSatellite over-the-air Communication field-trial experience /liliExperience working with mobility satellite terminals such as maritime and aeronautical /li /ulpAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. /ppOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
