Job ID: 10404146 | Amazon Middle East and North Africa FZ-LLC The Travel Risk Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) protects Amazon employees who travel for work by developing and implementing programs, standards, and solutions that mitigate health, safety, and security risk across a complex region. Covering travel across 80 countries, this role leads travel risk management in an environment with elevated exposure to crime, political unrest, road safety issues, medical challenges, natural disasters, and other serious disruptions. The region also presents a high degree of complexity, with frequent crises, medical hospitalizations, and other serious traveler incidents that require strong judgment and steady execution. Key Job Responsibilities
Lead travel risk management efforts across EMEA by developing and implementing strategies that mitigate health, safety, and security risk to business travelers. Design and improve programs, standards, and scalable solutions that strengthen traveler support and help the program operate effectively at enterprise scale. Identify travel risk exposure, monitor emerging risk trends, and lead traveler accountability efforts during crises and other disruptive events. Provide expert guidance on travel to complex environments, including locations affected by unrest, conflict, remoteness, or limited medical infrastructure. Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders by making data-driven recommendations and influencing decisions related to travel restrictions, evacuations, and escalations. Support travelers experiencing medical, security, and crisis-related incidents, including hospitalization, crime, social unrest, and other serious events. Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external providers, including travel partners, transportation providers, hotels, airlines, and embassies. Make high-judgment decisions independently and represent the global program during escalations when regional coverage requires it.
A Day in the Life This role balances strategic program development with direct operational support. In a typical week, the Travel Risk Manager may review traveler cases, advise on travel to higher-risk locations, respond to medical or security escalations, support crisis calls and traveler accountability efforts, and work with partners to strengthen standards, training, and scalable mechanisms. The pace can shift quickly, requiring the ability to move from long-term projects to urgent traveler issues with little notice. About the Team Travel Risk Management (TRM) protects the health, safety, and security of Amazon business travelers and assignees worldwide. The team builds scalable solutions that enable business rather than create barriers, using a recommendation-based approach that empowers travelers to make informed decisions. Team members value data-driven thinking, global consistency, and collaborative problem-solving, working across Amazon Security and partner organizations to provide comprehensive support from trip preparation to emergency response. Basic Qualifications
Fluency in spoken and written English. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Security Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Emergency Management, or related field. 5+ years experience in corporate security, corporate intelligence, crisis management, or related security field in a global or large-sized organization. 4+ years experience in Travel Risk Management, including direct responsibility for medical and security travel assistance, risk assessment, and crisis response.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in Arabic. Proficiency in ISO 31030 Travel Risk Management Standard. Experience with open source investigation techniques. Experience in workplace violence, emergency response and crisis management. Experience building scalable programs and repeatable processes, leveraging various tools and methods to maintain scale and efficiency. Experience developing security awareness training.
