Job Title: Engineering Manager
The Engineering Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of all hotel maintenance activities, ensuring the optimal functioning of systems, equipment, and infrastructure, in full compliance with Park Hyatt standards, safety regulations, and the expectations of an international luxury clientele.
Key Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Management
* Plan, coordinate, and supervise routine, extraordinary, and preventive maintenance activities across the hotel
* Ensure the operational efficiency of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and building management systems
* Respond promptly to critical failures to minimize impact on guest experience and hotel operations
* Manage maintenance issues to guarantee continuous hotel efficiency, in coordination with the Engineering Supervisor
* Conduct periodic visual inspections (daily or weekly) to verify compliance with standards, schedules, and hotel activities
* Supervise the work carried out by external contractors on-site
* Develop and oversee projects defined by management, supporting the Director of Engineering
Leadership and People Management
* Manage, coordinate, and develop the maintenance team, ensuring high levels of competence, motivation, and performance
* Organize work shifts, on-call schedules, and ongoing technical training
* Participate in daily departmental briefings ("handover") to ensure effective communication
* Promote a culture of safety, quality, and attention to detail
Luxury Standards and Guest Experience
* Collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and other hotel departments to ensure impeccable and responsive service to guest needs
* Ensure that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces consistently meet the aesthetic and functional standards of the Park Hyatt brand
* Handle VIP guest requests or feedback with discretion and professionalism
Compliance, Safety, and Sustainability
* Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations regarding safety, health, environment, and energy efficiency
* Coordinate inspections, technical audits, and controls by external authorities
* Implement sustainability initiatives, energy-saving measures, and improvements to environmental impact
* Verify and supervise safety aspects related to external contractors, supporting the Director of Engineering in activities related to contract management
Budget and Suppliers
* Prepare and manage the maintenance and CAPEX budget, supporting the Director xjrgpwk of Engineering and Engineering Department
* Select, negotiate, and oversee external suppliers and contractors in coordination with the Director of Engineering and Procurement Office, with particular attention to scheduling their activities
* Monitor costs, maintenance contracts, and supplier performance, supporting the Director of Engineering and Engineering Department
Requirements and Qualifications
* Technical diploma or degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Building, or related fields)
* Solid experience (minimum 5–7 years) in similar roles, preferably in luxury hospitality or complex environments
* Fluent English
* Flexibility to work shifts and weekends
* Proven experience managing structured technical teams
* Strong knowledge of hotel systems and maintenance operations
* Familiarity with preventive maintenance software and Building Management Systems (BMS)
* Knowledge of Italian safety and fire regulations
* Strong leadership with a service-oriented approach
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
* High attention to detail and quality standards
* Ability to work in high-pressure environments with demanding standards
