Associate Professor at Sapienza University of Rome
Postdoctoral Research Opportunity in Space Biotechnology – ALCYONE Project
Project Overview
The ALCYONE project (Autonomous Living Cell analYsis ON-chip for Evaluation of space Environment Effects, link), funded by #HorizonEurope, aims to develop a low-power lab-on-chip for assessing radiation effects on living systems in nanosatellite missions.
At its core, ALCYONE integrates thin-film sensors and actuators into a compact cell incubator, enabling real-time bioluminescence monitoring of biological responses in space.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join Sapienza University's School of Aerospace Engineering, leading this project in collaboration with international partners. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge space biotechnology.
About Us
The School of Aerospace Engineering (SIA) at Sapienza University of Rome has been a pioneering institution in aeronautics and astronautics since 1926. In the 1960s, it led Italy’s San Marco satellite program, making Italy the third nation to launch a satellite.
Today, with missions like UniSat, Lares, TigriSat, and AstroBio CubeSat, SIA remains a global leader in astronautics, blending technological research with hands-on education.
