Freelance Site ManagerLocation: Milan, ItalyContract: Freelance / ContractDuration: 12–15 monthsSector: Data Centres / Mission‐Critical InfrastructureStart Date: ASAPRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to support the on‐site delivery of data centre projects in the Milan region. The role is focused on the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of mission‐critical infrastructure, ensuring safe execution, quality compliance, and programme adherence.The Site Manager will act as the day‐to‐day on‐site lead, coordinating subcontractors, enforcing HSEQ standards, and working closely with the Project Manager, engineers, and commissioning teams.This role is site‐based and suited to individuals with strong experience in fast‐track data centre or mission‐critical environments.Key ResponsibilitiesManage daily on‐site activities for data centre construction and MEP installation worksSupervise and coordinate subcontractors and vendors (electrical, mechanical, controls, fire systems)Ensure all works comply with HSEQ standards, local regulations, and project proceduresMonitor site progress against programme and highlight risks or delaysEnforce quality standards, carry out inspections, and manage snagging activitiesCoordinate installation, testing, and support commissioning activitiesManage site logistics, access control, and permit‐to‐work processesMaintain accurate site records, reports, and as‐built documentationAct as the main on‐site point of contact between contractors and project managementRequired Experience & SkillsProven experience as a Site Manager on data centres or mission‐critical projectsStrong background in MEP‐led construction, particularly:Electrical infrastructure (LV/MV, UPS, switchgear, generators)Mechanical systems (cooling, CRAC/CRAH, chilled water)Experience working in live or high‐availability environmentsStrong knowledge of construction sequencing for data centresConfident managing multiple subcontractors on fast‐paced sitesGood understanding of construction documentation, method statements, and inspectionsQualifications & CertificationsTechnical qualification in Engineering, Construction, or a related disciplineValid construction H&S certification suitable for site managementData centre or mission‐critical safety training (advantageous)Italian language required; English proficiency strongly preferredLocation & Working ArrangementFull‐time site presence in MilanOccasional travel within the region may be requiredContract DetailsFreelance contract: 12–15 monthsCompetitive day or hourly rate, dependent on experienceOpportunity for contract extension subject to project demand
