Summer Art Gallery Assistant
Position Overview
We seek a highly organized and detail-oriented student to assist with research, database management, and administrative tasks in the VU Art Gallery.
About the Role
* Conduct research on individual artists, movements, or works of art within the Collection.
* Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, artists, and the Villanova community.
* Write and edit label copy, press releases, catalogues, and wall text.
* Update the database in a clear and consistent way.
* Broad knowledge of Art History is an asset.
* Work independently and take initiative.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Researching and documenting artwork and artists.
* Updating the gallery's database and ensuring its accuracy.
* Assisting with exhibitions, including writing label copy and press releases.
* Providing excellent customer service to visitors and stakeholders.
* Working collaboratively with the gallery team to achieve goals and objectives.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A strong academic record and interest in Art History.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
* Familiarity with art-related terminology and concepts.
