The Center Operations Specialist is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for troops and managing day-to-day center activities during an assigned shift.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Greet and assist visiting guests, providing information about center amenities, tours, classes, programs, and services.
* Deliver excellent customer service, including travel advice and complaint resolution.
* Maintain readiness, cleanliness, and organization of all activity and lounge areas.
* Ensure all facilities and equipment are operational and well-maintained.
* Monitor and replenish supply inventory.
* Supervise volunteers, ensuring quality service aligned with USO standards and policies.
* Handle cash and credit transactions, balancing registers and maintaining records.
* Assist with programs and events as needed.
* Take on additional responsibilities as directed by the Center Manager or Regional Leadership.
Job Specifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
* 0-3 years experience in retail, customer service, or related fields; nonprofit or military experience is a plus.
* Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of military communities preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills.
* Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
* Reliable, organized, self-motivated, and adaptable.
* Ability to perform basic math and handle cash / donations properly.
* Ability to obtain necessary credentials for center access, including security checks and driver’s license.
* Passion for USO’s mission to support America’s troops and their families.
* Location-specific COVID guidelines will be followed, including vaccination / testing requirements.
