You will join our Italian Marine Underwriting Team that is growing faster, offering a full range of coverages to support business. Within the team you will bring your great expertise, interact with professional and technical experts, and share best practices to grow your potential. In your underwriting role you will be responsible for writing new and renewal business for an allocated range of clients across the book, working with brokers and clients in support of the profitable growth of a portfolio in line with the agreed Business Plan, as well as developing high quality levels of relationships with brokers, clients and internal functions. This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime. WHAT you’ll be DOING What will your essential responsibilities include? Reviewing submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account. Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector, reinsurance cessions as well as the Underwriting and general administration costs while ensuring profitability. Proactively advising, assisting, servicing, and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements. Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention. Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards. Supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits. Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims. You will report to the Underwriting Manager Marine, Italy WHAT you will BRING We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities: Proven experience of underwriting and portfolio monitoring, ideally with a proven track record of profitable underwriting in Marine line of business Good industry knowledge and awareness of factors affecting this market. Know underwriting procedures; arbitrate handling the complexity of situations; assess and take risks. Passion for Marine sector to support clients and brokers in meeting their insurance needs. Good level of Italian and English, spoken and written. Understand stakeholders’ needs and concerns and identifies points of agreement. Efficiently manages the interactions with other parties involved. Explores different alternatives and influence the other parties to reach an agreement with positive outcomes for all. Know and use selling and negotiation techniques; adapt to the client's situation, needs and behavior. Work in team with colleagues of different seniority and expertise to achieve collective goals. Desired Skills and Abilities: Ability to develop communication skills and maintain relationships with internal and external clients as well as across the AXA XL and AXA Group entities. Proactive attitude facing new challenges. Make swift and efficient data-based decisions and keep the focus on the goals over time.
