The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. Our technicians are operating and maintaining AWS DCs' world‐class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the successful candidate will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.The role requires a motivated, self‐managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and Transformers.Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds / log‐taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with health & safety regulations).
Working locationOur data centers are located in remote areas outside Milan, where access via public transport may be limited. Therefore, a valid driving license is required for this role.Work ScheduleThis is a 100% in‐person onsite position due to the hands‐on nature of managing mission‐critical infrastructure. The role follows standard working hours (8 AM – 5 PM Milan time Mo - Fri) with no shift work.Working languagePlease be advised that the interview process at AWS will be conducted in English, as we are an international team based in the Greater Milan area.Qualifications
Professional or formal Electrical Certification or Apprentice / trades certified or diploma in an Electrical field.Demonstrate key electrical competencies (practice & theory) & knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls).Very good command of English – Data Center / mission critical engineering experience.Willing to travel between data center sites, and internationally if required.Driving license valid in Italy.
