Your role and responsibilities
You will join Ambienta’s cross-functional Sustainability & Strategy (S&S) function, based in Milan and London. This internal consulting function is central to supporting all of the firm’s investments, with the aim of delivering returns above the market average.
Within the S&S function, you will work on the integration of ESG practices into our investment process and across portfolio companies. Under the supervision of a senior team member, you will analyze potential and current portfolio companies to ensure compliance with Ambienta’s screening criteria, identify ESG risks, and highlight engagement and value-creation opportunities. Your work will provide essential input for business due diligence as well as ongoing engagement.
Main tasks will include:
* Supporting due diligence by analyzing company data and identifying material ESG topics
* Assisting in company engagement activities through questionnaire development, analysis and preparation of discussion points
* Supporting the definition and implementation of ESG Action Plans for portfolio companies
* Coordinating and actively supporting portfolio companies during ESG data collection
* Preparing and critically analyzing large data sets
* Performing carbon footprint calculations and supporting the implementation of decarbonization initiatives
* Developing Excel models for data analysis and tool development
* Contributing to investor reporting, and maintaining internal questionnaires and policies
* Preparing presentations for portfolio companies and internal stakeholders.
Your Skills
* 1-2 years of prior experience in ESG topics
* Outstanding academic background in Business, Management or Engineering with a specialization in ESG
* Team-oriented, proactive and able to structure tasks involving multiple stakeholders
* Capable to manage multiple work streams while meeting deadlines
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and derive actionable insights
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and ability to quickly learn to use new software (i.e. Bloomberg)
* Effective presentation skills, with the ability to communicate insights clearly to different audiences as a plus
* Self-starter, able to take ownership and responsibility for tasks and outputs
* Fluency in English and Italian; other European languages are a plus
* Basic knowledge of accounting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
* Familiarity with main ESG regulations and frameworks such as the SFDR, SCRD, SBTi, GHG Protocol, etc..
