In both the Allison Transmission and Allison Off-High-High Drive and Motion Systems business units, our team strives to Improve the Way the World Works. /ppLearn more about this role and how you can begin driving your career forward! /ph3Position Summary /h3pThe “Engineer, Mechatronics VV” plays a key operational role in the company’s Rovereto Technology Center laboratory, which represents a strategic asset for technology development, verification, and validation. The position combines hands-on laboratory testing with mechanical design responsibilities, including the development of prototype components and custom test bench fixtures using CAD tools. /ppThe engineer manages verification and validation activities end-to-end, from Test Request review and test definition to setup implementation, execution, data analysis, and reporting. In addition to technical testing responsibilities, the role actively contributes to the effective day-to-day management of the laboratory, supporting equipment logistics, workspace organization, 5S implementation, and HSE compliance. /ppOperating within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary engineering team, the position involves frequent interaction with multiple company functions and organizational levels, including leadership, and directly supports informed decision-making throughout the product development lifecycle. /ph3Main Responsibilities /h3ulliSupport and independently manage verification and validation activities for mechanical, hydraulic and mechatronic components within the Technology Center laboratory /liliReview and assess Test Requests, ensuring clarity, technical feasibility, and alignment with project requirements /liliDefine test concepts, methodologies, and procedures, including objectives, test conditions, and acceptance criteria /liliDesign mechanical components, prototypes, and custom test bench fixtures using CAD tools, ensuring manufacturability and alignment with workshop capabilities /liliImplement and assemble laboratory test setups, coordinating with internal workshops and relevant stakeholders as needed /liliExecute laboratory tests in compliance with defined procedures, safety rules, and quality standards /liliCollect, process, and analyze test data using appropriate data analysis tools /liliPrepare clear, structured, and technically sound test reports, submitting results for review and approval to the Lab Manager /liliPlay a key operational role in the correct day-to-day management of the laboratory, including equipment logistics, workspace organization, and 5S implementation /liliActively contribute to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance, ensuring safe working conditions and adherence to applicable procedures and regulations /liliCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. RD, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality) to support product development and validation activities /li /ulh3Main opportunities and challenges /h3ulliOpportunity to work within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary Engineering team, fostering continuous technical learning and knowledge exchange /liliActive involvement in a Technology Center laboratory recognized as a strategic asset for technology development, verification, and validation /liliFrequent interaction with multiple company functions (e.g. RD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality) and exposure to different organizational levels, including leadership /liliHigh level of hands-on responsibility, managing verification and validation activities end-to-end and contributing directly to technical decision-making /liliOpportunity to influence laboratory effectiveness through continuous improvement of test setups, workflows, 5S practices, and HSE compliance /liliChallenge of balancing technical rigor, safety, and quality standards with project timelines, priorities, and resource constraints /liliRequirement to operate autonomously in a dynamic environment, maintaining strong ownership of both testing outcomes and laboratory operations /li /ulh3Job position requirements /h3pbEducation: /b /ppUniversity master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline /ppbProfessional background /b /pulli3–5 years of professional experience in mechanical or mechatronic engineering roles within industrial or RD environments /liliProven experience in laboratory testing, verification and validation activities, or prototype development /liliHands-on involvement in the design and implementation of test setups, test benches, or experimental equipment /liliPractical experience in mechanical component design, with direct interaction with workshops, suppliers, or internal manufacturing resources /liliBackground in industrial sectors such as metal-mechanics, mechatronics, automation, machinery, or similar engineering-driven environments /liliExperience working in cross-functional teams and interacting with multiple stakeholders to support product development and validation processes /liliGood understanding of mechanical design principles, with the ability to design simple mechanical components, prototypes, and basic test fixtures /liliPractical familiarity with CAD tools for mechanical design /liliBasic knowledge of manufacturing processes and workshop constraints, with the ability to design components that can be realistically realized /liliInitial hands-on experience with laboratory testing activities, including test setup, execution, and basic troubleshooting /liliAbility to process and analyze test data using common data analysis tools (e.g. Excel; MATLAB or Python considered an advantage) /liliAbility to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, and test documentation /liliGood command of written and spoken English for everyday technical communication and reporting /li /ulpConsidered as a plus: /pulliExperience in designing, assembling, or modifying test benches and custom laboratory setups /liliBasic knowledge of hydraulic components and systems (e.g. pumps, motors, valves, actuators) /liliFamiliarity with measurement systems, sensors, and basic test instrumentation /liliInitial exposure to structured verification and validation processes or test documentation standards /liliExperience working in regulated or safety‑aware laboratory or industrial environments /liliStrong hands-on attitude and willingness to take ownership of laboratory activities and test execution /liliGood communication skills, with the ability to clearly document results and interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders /liliTeam-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering environment /liliStructured and methodical approach to problem solving and task execution /liliAttention to detail, particularly in test setup, data handling, and reporting /liliProactive attitude toward continuous improvement of laboratory practices, including 5S and safety /liliAbility to manage priorities and work autonomously in a dynamic and experimental environment /li /ulpAllison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
