About the Role We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our fantastic team here at JayWay! The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management. This senior position involves leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management of financial activities. Objectives of this role - Provide comprehensive financial reporting and updates to senior management by evaluating, analysing, and reporting appropriate data points. - Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls. - Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions. - Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across the company. Tasks & Responsibilities at JayWay: - Monthly close - including all balance sheet account reconciliations, posting revenue, journal entries, review and accruing expenses - Prepare monthly financial statements timely - Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, procedures, and workflows - Establish (in coordination with upper management) budgets, KPIs and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basis - Support budget objectives by analyzing variances initiating corrective action if necessary and recommending improvements - Prepare and record payroll, contractor payments, manage benefits, policies and 401(k) - Assign, train and oversee the accounting team with AP, AR and credit card expenses - Track and reconcile Deferred Revenue monthly - Cash flow management - provides the status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data - Fulfil compliance role with federal, state, and local legal requirements in the locations JayWay customers travel by filing financial reports and advising management on needed actions - Assist with year-end tax requests, annual reports, audits, and reviews as required - Prepares special reports and ad hoc requests as needed - Shapes and manages the Finance department based on the company's needs to fully support all other departments Skills, Education & Experience - Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or auditing - A deep understanding of US tax regulations is a must - Minimum of 5 years experience in a highly ranked accounting position, preferably in the travel industry - Experience in managerial positions, including budgeting, planning, controlling, financial reporting and analysis, and risk management - A deep understanding of accounting and bookkeeping, GAAP and IFRS, US taxes, and preferably EU tax regulatory and tax compliance - Deep understanding of cash flow management and cost reduction - Experience with Excel and Google Workspace, Xero, or other similar accounting software - Previous ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and or ISO 31000 standards certification experience would be a bonus Requirements and skills - Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities - Great team management skills Perks - Competitive Pay: Pay that reflects your skills and experience. - Health & Wellness Allowance: Post-probation allowance for your health and wellness needs. - Fully Remote Work Environment (Within CET): Work remotely as long as you're available during Central European Time hours. - Company-Provided MacBook: Receive a MacBook and essential tools for your role. - Travel Opportunities: Opportunities to travel for business meetings and team events. - Performance Bonuses: Bonuses are based on your performance. - Flexible Working Hours: Set your own schedule for a healthy work-life balance(to explain how this works). - Professional Development: Training programs and courses for career growth. - Annual Get-togethers: Company gatherings for relaxation and team bonding. - Recognition Programs: Acknowledgment of your contributions through awards and recognitions.
