Tasks and activities The scope of work will include : Reviewing and consolidating commercial and scientific objectives. Defining mission requirements and contributing to the definition of system requirements. Carrying out feasibility analyses, mission design, and preliminary system sizing (orbits and revisit, subsystem budgeting, E2E performance, orbital maintenance). Establishing requirement verification methodologies and laying out test plans. Defining the concept of operations for the designed mission. Identifying constraints and critical design drivers (to both Ground and Flight segments) and contributing with a mitigating course of action. Taking part in the development of internal mission analysis software tools (MATLAB, Java, Python). Occupying technical management roles within programs, especially programs focused on 0/A phases, with many interactions: both internal (with ground segment engineers, satellite architects, system engineers) and external (with clients and programs consortium partners). Coordinating teams/consortiums working on ITT proposals, replies to RFIs, phase 0/A studies. Skills and experience The following skills and experience are mandatory: University Degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or any relevant field. At least 2-5 years proven experience in similar roles. A strong background in flight dynamics, both for orbital propagation and estimation, earth observation, and spacecraft design are essential. Strong background on flight dynamics, orbital propagation, orbit estimation, manoeuvres design for both impulsive and low thrust propulsion, requirements management. Spacecraft propulsion experience is expected in addition to familiarity with payloads (especially remote sensing). A solid experience on orbit maintenance. Knowledge of at least one of the following software and programming languages: STK, NASA GMAT, OREKIT; MATLAB, PYTHON, JAVA. Knowledge of ESA DRAMA and space debris mitigation. Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment. Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. The following skills and experience would be highly desirable: Experience in key technical management roles with interaction with ESA and other national space agencies, as well as commercial clients, is a strong plus. Practical experience in IBM DOORS. Experience with Geospatial visualization tools (e.g.: Cesium, WebGIS). Familiarity with Earth Observation L2-L4 products and value-added services.
