We’re supporting a leading General Contractor involved in the early phases of a landmark Data Center megaproject, and they are now looking to appoint a Freelance Project Planner to drive schedule development, coordination, and progress control across the full project lifecycle. This is a high‑impact planning role where you will support project delivery, manage interfaces, and ensure schedule integrity on one of Europe’s most ambitious industrial developments. Location: Milan Rate: Negotiable Requirement: EU passport Contract: 12 months (strong possibility of extension) Role Overview Reporting functionally to the Head of PMO and operationally to the Area Director, the Project Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating the project schedule, ensuring full alignment between engineering, construction, suppliers, and the client organisation. You will act as a key point of coordination for planning activities, ensuring the project is delivered on schedule and in line with required milestones and quality standards. Fluency in English is required. Italian is a strong bonus, as you will interface with local teams in Milan and international partners across Europe. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and optimise project schedules across engineering, procurement, and construction workstreams. Support the creation of project execution plans, sequencing strategies, and progress‑tracking structures. Coordinate planning activities between local teams, international contractors, and client stakeholders. Monitor progress against baseline schedules, identifying deviations early and supporting mitigation strategies. Lead schedule reviews and ensure accurate reporting of progress, risks, and critical‑path impacts. Support interface management by ensuring schedule alignment across all disciplines and suppliers. Prepare and deliver regular planning updates for senior leadership and executive stakeholders. Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement within the planning function. Contribute to the development and implementation of planning systems, processes, and documentation standards. Experience & Skill Requirements Strong experience in planning for large‑scale capital or industrial construction projects. Background working with both owners and contractors is highly valued; an owner‑mindset is essential. Proven ability to manage complex engineering and construction sequencing in fast‑paced environments. Demonstrated success supporting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring schedule accountability. Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills. Experience with planning tools (Primavera P6 highly valued). Competence in progress tracking, risk awareness, and interface coordination. Fluency in English (mandatory); Italian is a premio.
