Overview Program Coordinator, Chad at Lutheran World Federation (LWF) – location: N’Djamena with frequent travel to field locations. Duration: one year contract (with possible extension). Start date: as soon as possible. Location may require travel within the country. Applications are accepted in French and English. Qualified female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Purpose: The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall supervision of operations and the development of the Chad program. This is a leadership role within the country program management team, emphasizing accountability to beneficiaries, partners, and donors. Fluency in French is a requirement. Responsibilities Provide leadership, management, coordination, and constructive relationships with stakeholders to ensure quality program implementation in both emergency and recovery contexts. Contribute to program development through fundraising, strategic direction, and identifying growth opportunities. Support professional development of program teams by identifying capacity-building needs and participating in recruitment of staff. Ensure activities comply with donor requirements, LWF principles, code of conduct, policies, and directives. Foster partnerships at all levels by identifying capacities and ensuring harmonious project implementation. Monitor project planning and budgets; review narrative and financial reports for all projects within the program. Supervise the PMER unit; ensure planning, monitoring, and evaluation align with LWF and donor guidelines and that tools (e.g., ActivityInfo) are used effectively. Organize field visits to validate reports against on-the-ground activities and discuss gaps with area/project managers. Coordinate and participate in staff coordination meetings with area coordinators, project managers, and heads of support departments. Collaborate with the Regional Program Coordinator and Geneva-based advisers for strategic and technical guidance. Personnel Management and Collaboration Orient new staff, set performance objectives, and conduct reviews for teams under responsibility. Manage operations staff per the HR manual; anticipate and manage workplace conflicts. Collaborate to ensure effective logistics, procurement, and asset management in LWF sub-offices. Communication, Networking, and Fundraising Coordinate with government, UN agencies, international NGOs, donors, and civil society to ensure effective operations. Assist the Country Director and Regional Grant Manager to identify funding opportunities and manage project submissions. Lead advocacy initiatives with other actors and NGOs in LWF’s areas of operation. Contribute to development of project proposals, reports, and other program documents, ensuring participation of involved staff and adherence to formats, requirements, and deadlines. This position is open to both national and international candidates who can work independently. Qualifications and Experience A university degree in a field relevant to humanitarian, development, social or program management, or a technical field related to LWF’s interventions, with substantial experience in project/program coordination or management. Minimum 5 years of experience in national coordination within humanitarian/development settings similar to LWF. Technical expertise in one of LWF’s intervention sectors (Climate and Livelihood, Protection and Social Cohesion, or quality services such as Emergency Response and WASH). Proven leadership of teams, ability to work under challenging conditions with limited resources, and strong communication and networking skills. Willingness to travel within the country, including to remote or insecure areas, to support staff and ensure quality operations. Experience with donors, grant management with UN agencies/governments/foundations, and local/international advocacy. Knowledge of LWF or related agencies is an asset.
