Are you energized by the dynamic forces shaping the e‑commerce market? /p pAmazon Retail Finance seeks an analytical, results‑oriented Sr. Financial Analyst Intern to support the Consumables finance team for Japan. “Finance” in Amazon has similarities to 経営企画室・経営戦略本部 in Japanese companies in which you own a wide variety of planning and analysis responsibilities. /p pThis intern role acts as a right‑hand person of Category Leaders in respective business units and supports the healthy growth and financial operation. He/she delivers this through detailed financial modeling, driving business initiatives, and identifying/implementing key business indicators. Additional responsibilities include delivering cost and process improvements, performing reviews of forecast vs. actual variances, and communicating with management and peers about business issues and demanding actions. He/she may also have a subordinate to manage, coach and develop. /p h3Key job responsibilities /h3 ul liLead both multi‑year’s business planning and annual forecasts with detailed financials for business segments and initiatives. Identify opportunities for sales and profit from multiple dimensions, and translate them to action plans with priority calls. Audit business teams’ assumptions and plans. Translate opportunities to business goals, with key inputs which matter to the outputs, identify road‑blocks, ensure proper and sufficient action plans are developed, and track the delivery. /li liLead forecast updates to keep management up to date. Conduct timely reviews with explanation to forecast changes and variance vs. actual, communicate business issues and demand actions to management and business partners. /li liThere are variety of analysis on demand; pricing, product sourcing strategy, new category or store launches, new business models, co‑promotion opportunities and other merchandising strategy. /li liFor new business and business models, simulate benefit and costs to Amazon, the business partners and our consumers. Support business teams for organization and financial process designs to deliver the idea, obtain the budget and make it happen. /li liConduct overall cost analysis including Retail operating components, Supply Chain and logistics, as well as General and Administration costs. /li liWith the Supply Chain management, design the strategy to create a low‑cost supply chain, identify short/long‑term opportunities for cost reduction, and work with the Inventory Manager to plan appropriate on‑hand inventory levels. /li liPartner with other finance teams and multi function and develop all weekly and monthly financial close activities, all planning forecasting, and reporting models while overseeing their continuous innovation and communication to both operations and other business partners. /li liWork with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely. /li liTrack and manage budgets and headcounts. Interviews: Online assessments will be sent in September and interviews will start in October. /p h3Basic Qualifications /h3 ul liCurrently enrolled in MBA or equivalent master’s level program at the time of application with a graduation date between December 2026 – September 2027. /li li3+ years of full‑time industry work experience, which occurred between the graduation date from your undergraduate program and prior to starting your MBA or Master’s program. /li liBusiness level fluency in both English and Japanese (in both written and verbal format). /li li3+ years’ finance experience in an organization with world class processes, or 3+ years’ experience in consulting or financial institution. /li liDemonstrated financial acumen and analytical experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and project analysis (example: business modeling), and data interpretation of business impact and results (example: what‑if scenarios). /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liBusiness level fluency in Japanese (in both written and verbal format). /li liBachelor’s degree required in finance, economics, mathematics, business or related field. /li li5+ years in finance roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility. /li liExperience in setting up business cases and driving financial conclusions, strong analytical and problem solving skills. /li liSuperior attention to detail and have the ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously, though never losing the big picture out of sight. /li /ul pOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
