About the School
Canadian School of Florence – Fiesole, Florence
We are seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated, and motivated English Teacher to lead our middle school program (Grades 6-8). You will teach the Ontario Curriculum ensuring the program is relevant, engaging, and fit for purpose. Working with the Senior Leadership Team and other colleagues in the department and Student Support teams, you will contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the school through excellent classroom practice, positive and collaborative, and willingness to support the wider life of the school.
Teaching and Learning
 * Promote the school’s mission and philosophy, ensuring children are working towards being true global citizens.
 * Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development plans and growth.
 * Implement agreed policies and developments.
 * Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively.
 * Meet requirements for the assessment, evaluation, and recording of students’ development.
 * Use the student tracking and monitoring processes to advance children’s learning in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities.
 * Take responsibility for and contribute to professional development.
 * Effectively communicate the school’s key messages and values, and be an ambassador for our school at all times.

 * Use tracking, monitoring and intervention processes to advance student learning.

 * Ensure school policies are understood and followed consistently.
Your Profile – Education & Training
 * Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent).
 * Qualified to teach middle school students in English.
 * First language English speaker.

 * Proven experience teaching middle school.
 * Demonstrates creativity and passion for teaching with a strong work ethic.
 * Experience with innovative teaching and learning practices.
 * Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, negotiation and mediation skills.
 * Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, the academic and co‑curricular directions.
 * Enthusiastic, energetic, and able to nurture unique learning experiences for students.
 * Able to thrive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment.
 * Commitment to safeguarding and equality; commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
 * High level of teaching, communication and presentation skills.
 * Experience in an international setting is an asset.
 * Extracurricular experience is an asset.
The School
Canadian School of Florence is a K‑12 school with students from 3 to 18. The lower primary campus is in San Domenico, Fiesole; the upper primary campus (Grades 4 & 6) and middle school campus (Grades 7‑8) are also located nearby. The senior school (Grades 9‑12) is in Florence, less than 2 km away from the junior school. Across all campuses, courses are taught in English (except for Italian and French) based on the Canada (Ontario) curriculum; the school also prepares students for the Italian national exams as a “paritaria” school. Students work towards gaining the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, recognized by universities worldwide. The school offers a dual diploma in our high school, the Liceo delle Scienze Umane.
