Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer is a manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics specialist who plays a central role in assessing supplier quality and ensuring that products received are free of defects. Supplier quality engineers communicate between senior management and suppliers to address and resolve quality issues, providing technical input and guidance on process enhancements and improvements. They spend a significant amount of time visiting supplier facilities to assess practices and procedures, identify areas for improvement, and conduct rigorous tests of received supplies to identify potential failures or recurring manufacturing defects.
Job Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering field and 3-4 years of equivalent experience
* Demonstrable knowledge of manufacturing process and production equipment
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to write technical documents
* Knowledge of quality system methodologies
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings
* Strong knowledge of PPAP, MSA, FMEA, SPC and 8D Methods
* Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, Minitab, SPSS
* Fluent in Italian and English in written and spoken
* Be able to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits, sometimes with short notice

Additional Bonus
* Automotive manufacturing experience, working directly for an Automotive OEM or Automotive Supplier
* Global experience with multinational suppliers
* ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Auditor Certification
* Audit experience; internal and/or external Auditor
* Experience or certification in VDA 6.3 audit is an asset
* Experience leveraging Design and Process FMEA outputs to develop robust systems
* Experience with development of pressure test equipment
* Experience with coating and plating of metal and inspection methods
* Experience with cleanliness process (VDA 19 is preferred)
* Working experience in Metrology lab: Inspection Method and Equipment
Job Responsibilities
* Ensure that the required delivery quality is achieved by our supply chain.
* Continuously improve effective nonconformance management of supplier‑caused nonconformances.
* Control implementation of prevention‑oriented SQM methods and risk management in supplier‑related processes, projects and products (8D, RCA, APQP, FMEA).
* Qualify and develop suppliers, ensuring continuous improvement of supplier quality and deliveries.
* Support supplier selection with high performance expectations to minimize follow‑up costs and effort.
* Act in cross‑functional cooperation with Procurement, Logistics, Engineering and Manufacturing.
* Familiarize with international/national standards (ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), technical documentation of materials in scope, quality assurance and purchasing agreements, test and inspection methods.
