DevOps/Service Reliability Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated DevSecOps / Service Reliability Engineer (SRE) to strengthen our fast-growing team at Leaf Space, a leader in ground station services for satellite communications. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our mission-critical systems that connect satellites to Earth.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, operations engineers, mission managers, and quality assurance to design, implement, and maintain highly available, automated, and observable infrastructure solutions.
A key focus of your role will be maintaining and optimizing the telecommunication infrastructure of our global ground station network, which enables seamless satellite communications and reliable data transfer. Your work directly supports both our customers and internal operators by delivering the tools and systems needed to monitor, operate, and continuously improve satellite services.
As part of our DevSecOps team, you will:
* Build and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and integrate security best practices.
* Design advanced observability solutions for early detection and resolution of issues.
* Collaborate on innovative edge technologies where standard solutions do not exist, requiring creativity and a problem-solving mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* System Reliability: Build and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure systems, ensuring optimal performance across all services.
* Incident Management & Postmortems: Respond quickly to production incidents, drive resolution, and conduct thorough root cause analysis to implement preventive measures.
* Observability (Monitoring & Alerting): Design, implement, and continuously improve monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively detect and resolve issues.
* Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain automation scripts, Ansible playbooks, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) to reduce manual effort and increase consistency.
* Infrastructure Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in system performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with development teams to optimize architecture.
* Capacity & Scalability Planning: Forecast usage, plan for growth, and scale infrastructure to support evolving business and mission needs.
* DevSecOps & Security Best Practices: Integrate security into every stage of the development and deployment lifecycle, ensuring compliance and resilience against threats.
* Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with developers, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth releases, shared ownership, and continuous delivery of reliable systems.
* Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation of infrastructure, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Contribute actively to internal knowledge bases.
* Reliability Engineering: Proactively identify risks, performance bottlenecks, and vulnerabilities, and design preventive measures to improve long-term stability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND STUDIES
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, related fields, or equivalent experience in previous roles.
REQUIREMENTS
Tech Skills
* Proven experience in Service Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevSecOps, or DevOps, with a strong focus on large-scale, distributed systems.
* Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems and proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or Bash).
* Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
* Strong background in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible or similar tools).
* Proficiency in building observability solutions: monitoring, logging, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent).
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitLab, including automated testing, deployments, and security integration.
* Base knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancing).
* Knowledge of security best practices, with the ability to embed them into infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
* Experience in incident response, root cause analysis, and automated remediation.
* Exposure to serverless computing, event-driven architectures, or edge technologies.
Soft Skills
* Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze and resolve complex system issues.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
* Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities and technologies.
* Curiosity and drive to go beyond the state-of-the-art where no Stack Overflow or ChatGPT answer exists.
