Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Power Electronics Engineer position within a company client located in Varese, Italy.
Job Responsibilities
Besides Power Electronics, the ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of EMI / EMC standards, analogue electronics, and microprocessor architecture. The candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary groups.
Define the Hardware architecture and topology of the AC-AC inverters;
Design the hardware, from schematic level to layout;
Define the requirements of critical power devices (IGBTs, gate drivers, magnetic components) and design accordingly;
Design custom components (mainly magnetics) when no off-the-shelf devices are available;
Collaborate with FW designers and System Engineers to ensure device stresses are within control by the control system;
Ensure scalability of HW architecture for mass production;
Manage BOM and ensure cost targets are met;
Support technology transfer from development to mass production;
Address critical design issues and take ownership;
Ensure manufacturability and readiness of technology.
Key responsibility: Be accountable for new inverter HW architectures supporting advanced development projects, from proof of concept to final mass production.
Competence Requirements (Hard Skills)
Bachelor, Master, or PhD in Electronic Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics.
5+ years of experience in developing digitally controlled AC-AC converters;
Skills include Power Electronics, magnetic component design, hardware design, circuit simulation (PSPICE, LTSPICE, PLEX), basic Python or MATLAB, analogue electronics, embedded controls, FMEA, PCB layout.
Soft Skills
Ability to work in a team, result-oriented, creative problem solver;
Willingness to take on challenging tasks, strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration;
Effective communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, multitask, self-driven, quick learner, critical thinker;
Optional: project management basics, leadership experience;
Fluent in Italian and English.
