Job Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Amazon seeks a self‐starter to join the AWS Energy team that sits within the AWS Infrastructure Services org to pioneer the future for data center utility power. The role focuses on developing and executing a comprehensive strategy for energy delivery across AWS data centers in the Americas, managing multiple large‐scale power infrastructure projects, and driving cost‐saving initiatives while maintaining safety, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers in the AMER regions.
- Manage multiple utilities, EPCs, and owner's engineers to deliver medium and high voltage power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.
- Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects—utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc.—to reduce long‐term energy costs and manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Amazon CFE/RE teams to support strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
- Execute electricity supply contracts to create new clean energy capacity on the grid, reduce cost, minimize risk, and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon.
- Manage a portfolio of complex energy projects and collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities to meet business timelines.
- Identify and develop innovative cost‐saving projects (capital and operational) related to energy infrastructure and supply.
- Perform due diligence on in‐market opportunities and develop them into cost savings for the business.
- Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience working in the utility/energy industry in a project engineering, project management, or construction management role.
- Experience developing and delivering medium‐ and high‐voltage electric infrastructure projects in planning or project management roles.
- Experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating contracts with utilities and contractors.
- Experience collaborating with external stakeholders to deliver projects on‐time and on‐budget.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project/program level education and certification.
- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, large utility‐scale projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem‐solving skills.
- Experience planning, engineering, developing, or constructing substations or other 34.5 kV or greater energy infrastructure.
- Strong bias for action with the ability to look around corners and effectively influence without authority.
- Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers, and cloud services.
- Experience managing large, utility‐scale projects and working with various contractors, sub‐contractors, vendors, and third‐party partners to deliver on schedule and on budget.

Base salary range: 155,400.00 – 210,200.00 USD annually (USA, VA, Arlington / USA, WA, Seattle).
