Nature Catalysis is a monthly multi-disciplinary journal that publishes original research papers, reviews, perspectives, news & views and editorial pieces on all aspects of catalysis science and engineering.
About The Role
To help us build on the success of the portfolio, we're seeking an editor with a research background in electrocatalysis or photocatalysis, or broader heterogeneous catalysis. The successful candidate will primarily support Nature Catalysis and may collaborate closely with other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. Responsibilities and journal assignments may evolve over time in response to portfolio needs.
Responsibilities
Handle original research papers and work closely with editor teams on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
Make well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice.
Contribute to content and strategy in this area at Nature Catalysis and other Nature Portfolio journals as needed.
Commission, edit content such as reviews, perspectives, comments or write editorials.
Liaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature family and with experts in the international scientific community.
Attend conferences and visit research institutions.
Qualifications
A PhD, or equivalent qualification, in a topic related to catalysis.
Additional research experience (such as postdoctoral positions) may be valuable but is not required.
A thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field.
A passion for science and a thirst to learn more; demonstrate breadth of interest in scientific research within and beyond your specialty.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluent English (written and spoken).
The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different areas of this discipline.
Be eager to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learn more about their research, and help them learn what we look for in the papers we publish.
Editorial experience is not required, although applicants with editorial experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for Senior Editor positions.

The Research Highlight should explain the significance and implications of the research to someone who is not a specialist in the subject.
(If applicable, for candidates with previous editorial experience) A copy of relevant editorial-type articles you have authored or examples of articles you have handled that demonstrate your suitability for the position.
