The role involves handling original research papers, overseeing peer review, and contributing to the content and strategy of NSMB and Nature Communications. The successful applicant will be placed with the NSMB editorial team and may work with the Molecular Biology Genetics and Structural Biology teams at Nature Communications. They may be assigned to other journals within Nature Portfolio as needed. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liHandle original research papers, working closely with the editorial team on manuscript selection, peer review and publication. /li liMake well‑reasoned editorial decisions on manuscripts, following expert referee advice. /li liContribute to content and strategy of NSMB and Nature Communications. /li liCommission, edit content such as reviews, and write editorials. /li liLiaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio and with experts in the international scientific community. /li liAttend conferences and visit research institutions. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liA PhD (or equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology, or Computational Biology. /li liComprehensive understanding of recent trends and developments in the field. /li liPassion for science with breadth of interest within and beyond your specialty. /li liExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English (written and spoken). /li liAbility to assess novelty, context and implications of research across related areas. /li liWillingness to travel and meet scientists worldwide. /li liEditorial experience not required but encouraged for senior position consideration. /li /ul pThe successful candidates will report to the Chief Editor of NSMB.
