The objective of this project is to define the optimal layout and material‑flow strategy for the washer pre‑assembly area. The project will analyze the current spatial configuration, logistics routes, workstation positioning, and material distribution methods to design an improved layout that enhances efficiency, ergonomics, and production throughput.
Tasks:
· Mapping of current layout, workstation arrangement, and material‑handling routes;
· Data analysis of the benches production load and type of subassemblies;
· Analysis of work methods to identify bottlenecks, transport distances, and non‑value‑added movements;
· Definition of layout constraints (space availability, safety, ergonomics, utilities);
· Evaluation of optimal positioning for workstations, buffer areas, and material supply points;
· Design of improved internal logistics flow for components and finished subassemblies;
· Optimization of material presentation (supermarket, kitting, packaging);
· Simulation of alternative layout configurations and comparison of expected performance;
· Assessment of safety, ergonomics, and compliance with internal standards;
· Development of the final proposed layout with detailed flow diagrams;
· Preparation of implementation plan.
Responsibilities:
· Act ensuring methodological consistency and alignment with business objectives;
· Map and analyse work flows and material flows to identify waste, bottlenecks, and inefficiency areas;
· Propose and implement solutions using PDCA logic;
· Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure the achievement of targets within defined deadlines;
· Support the industrial engineers already in the team in Time & Methods analysis activities for process standardization, line balancing, and updating of process standards (SOP and WI);
· Contribute to the management and update of ERP master data (SAP and/or AS400) cycle times and bills of materials of the subassemblies;
· Collect operational issues and improvement proposals from the workers, perform root cause analysis, and propose/implement structured improvement solutions (PDCA logic);
· Spread and implement the KaiZen approach engaging operators and team leaders in continuous improvement activities;
· Carry out data analysis activities to build KPI reports and dashboards in order to monitor process efficiency and support improvement decisions;
· Support the design and optimization of preassembly layouts to ensure proper use of production and logistics spaces.
